At Somerhill, we have one way of living but two ways of learning. Between the ages of 2 and 7 years, girls and boys are together in the classroom. This environment promotes uninhibited development at an age when playing and learning are often synonymous. From 7 to 13 years, children benefit from a single-sex classroom environment, where girls and boys learn in different and bespoke ways. The moment classes finish, everyone is together - at break and lunch as well as for sports, music, clubs and activities. This really is the best of both worlds for our children.
Somerhill is housed in a stunning 400-year-old Jacobean mansion surrounded by 150 acres of beautiful parkland. You will be hard-pressed to find a more glorious setting for a school! We have excellent facilities, including a multi-purpose sports hall, astroturf, indoor swimming pool complex and a purpose-built music centre, to name just a few.

Pre-school at Somerhill
2 - 4 years
Children can join our pre-school from the age of 2. Our Saplings provision extends across Nursery and Kindergarten, offering a bespoke outdoor education to start their learning journey.

Pre-prep at Somerhill
4-7 years
Children can join our pre-prep from Reception until the end of Year 2. With a dedicated space, children flourish and grow as they continue their Somerhill journey.

Prep at Somerhill
7 - 13 years
Children join prep at age 7 and stay until age 11 for girls and 13 for boys. Classroom learning is single-sex but in our stunning co-educational environment.

We know that choosing the right school for your child is a big decision. At Somerhill, we take a personal and dedicated approach to help you at this important time. Whether you would like an informal chat, a visit or a meeting, our admissions team are on hand to make the arrangements or answer any questions, big or small.
Our three most common entry points at Somerhill are Nursery, Reception, and Year 3. Subject to availability, children can join us anytime during the school year. Our youngest pupils can join us for our Nursery provision when they are two years old. Children may also join in September following their third birthday when they can join our Kindergarten for the school year before Reception. Children are also welcome to join Somerhill directly at Reception.
