Somerhill hosted its first-ever Big Draw event, celebrating the joy of drawing under the theme, ‘Drawing with Senses’. Artists Hayley Hartley and Caroline Bugby ran interactive workshops that explored mark-making using a variety of media and processes.

Having explored Caroline’s unique sculptures, made from bioplastics, milk plastic, wool, natural dyes, soy wax and willow, pupils and their families created drawings in oil pastels and willow drawings in space.

Hayley’s plaster casts made from the bark of trees in the Somerhill grounds inspired textured drawings and linear mono prints using gelli plates and acetate.
The event was well-attended, and it was wonderful to see so many parents and children working together to create beautiful art.
