The Summer Senior Concert and Junior Concert acted as a wonderful conclusion to the musical year at Somerhill with audience participation included for the final musical flourish. The concerts showcased every Somerhill ensemble as well as both the Junior and Senior Yardley Court and Derwent Lodge choirs.
Many thanks to all the talented performers, their dedicated teachers, and everyone involved in making these concerts a resounding success.

The Junior Concert took us on a journey from the Caribbean to Africa and beyond. Two Calypso songs were featured, and an uplifting call and response African song provided the penultimate number. Our elementary flute group, junior strings and junior guitars, each provided us with polished and skilled musical items.  Year Four performed confidently on the xylophones, showing us their instrumental skills whilst having fun. The ever-popular Year Three ukuleles made their return, playing and singing in parts, and Reggie even had a mention in one of their songs. There was an eclectic and exciting mix of choral items, with songs about cats, peanuts and Ancient Egyptians providing even more variety. The quality of singing from the children was superb and this was evident in the finale, with Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah ensuring not a dry eye was left in the house.
