Somerhill celebrated ‘Odd Socks Day’, in support of Anti-Bullying Week. All pupils were encouraged to celebrate their individuality and what makes them all unique by wearing odd socks for the day.
A voluntary donation of £1 per child went to the Anti-Bullying Alliance to help continue their work promoting kindness, confidence, and individuality. Their theme for this year, ‘Reach Out’, which empowers children to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes, will be explored in assemblies, PSHE lessons and form time.
The event follows on from last month’s Big Anti-Bullying Assembly and ties in with the launch of the Positive Post Box initiative which aims to promote mutual respect and proactive kindness from a young age.
Kindness is one of our core values at Somerhill and during Anti-Bullying Week, Somerhill pupils (and staff) will be invited to embrace positivity and kindness by sending uplifting letters, or drawings, to other members of the Somerhill community.
