Last week we were delighted to welcome Hilden Grange Preparatory School, Northwood Senior, Broomwood Hall Upper School, Mascalls Academy and Weald of Kent Grammar School to the IET Faraday Challenge Day hosted here at Somerhill. Pupils were tasked with researching, designing & building solutions to real-life engineering problems.

“Last Thursday, a group of 6 Year Eight boys took part in the Faraday Challenge. We were joined by 5 other schools and were set an engineering challenge to solve. We had a budget and access to various resources to come up with a solution. We enjoyed collaborating as a team to resolve the problem, making alterations to our design as we progressed through the day. All visiting teams came up with some ingenious designs and it was a great day of problem-solving”. – Dominic Holmes
