Year 5 have been learning about ‘Day of the Dead’ in their art lessons this term and they celebrated the close of the project with a fantastic workshop and fiesta. One of our parents, Mrs Pearce, brought in her ofrenda to show the children and explain the many symbols, meanings and traditions acknowledged with her family during ‘Dias de los Muertos’.
The children had a wonderful afternoon making paper marigolds, decorating calaveras (sugar skulls) and creating papel picado bunting. The activities were capped off with a traditional piñata! Thank you again to Mrs Pearce for taking the time to share her culture with us.
