Mud, glorious mud greeted our cross-country runners on Friday for the Dobson Trophy at Claremont. All our athletes relished the challenge, got stuck in and proved just how fit and tough they really are. DL and YC emerged as overall champions, with DL coming 1st in both the U9s and U11s, whilst YC also came first in the U9 and U13 events. It was a day of medals and amazing achievements once again. Results as follows:
In U9 Boys, YC were crowned champions with all six runners finishing in the top 20, a fantastic team achievement. Marcus continued his fine record this season with a resounding win. Ralph C, Ned T and Charlie W ran superb races finishing in 3rd, 5th, and 6th respectively. Not far behind were Billy K in 15th and Hamish S 18th.
With some of our top U11 runners away at a football tournament, the pressure was on for our U11 boys to compete for the overall trophy. That they did with outstanding runs from year 5’s Isaac P, who crossed the line in 5th, Jack B 14th, Thomas W 23rd, Guy B 27th and James M 28th.
YC’s U13s boys proved how strong they are in a pack with four runners finishing within the top 10. Exceptional running from Jonty Co 2nd, Jack B 4th, Gabriel M 6th and William B 7th. In addition, Charles G finished a commendable 26th in his first ever cross-country event.
In a strong field of U9 girls, our DL U9s proved as resilient as ever. Isobel D continued her unbeaten record this season with a resounding win. Juliet B brought home her first medal of the XC season finishing in 3rd. Top 20 places also came for Rosie T 8th, Erin P 10th, Emily T14th and Maddie W 20th. The U9s finished a resounding Team 1st, ahead of Dulwich Prep.
The U11 girls continued their strong form with 5 runners placing in the top 10. Erin Ma also brought home her first medal of the XC season finishing in 3rd, whilst Sienna E, Erin T, Berenice D, Florence Y, and Amaya S finished in 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th and 34th respectively. A very convincing Team 1st, ahead of Dulwich Prep.
We also entered Year Six girls in the U13 race to compete for the overall trophy. They played their part admirably against girls up to two years’ older, with fantastic runs from Hannah Ca in 10th, Genevieve W 15th, Tilly Ta 17th, Eliza B 26th, Maelys C-G 29th and Ishitha Y in 31st.
