Just before half-term, Year 5 children dressed up in outfits on a French theme: we had a wonderful assortment of mime artists, glamorous celebrities and plenty of berets, Breton stripes, garlic garlands and moustaches. Even Tintin and Milou made an appearance!
Boys and girls came together in mixed groups to collaboratively make maps of France via the medium of collage, learning about key geographical features such as mountain ranges, rivers and seas, as well as finding out what different regions are famous for. They worked together to find out information about different francophone countries around the globe using their digital literacy skills and practised using their numbers in French.
Pupils honed their French speaking skills in order to request their choice of baguette and ice cream, followed by crêpes prepared and cooked in front of the children by the team from the ‘Crêpe de la Crêpe’ horsebox. The day concluded with some French lawn games!
