‘High Hopes’ delivered our harvest assembly to all pupils in years 1 to 8. They had an inspiring message about sharing and giving to others which was reinforced with a song from Pre-Prep and a harvest hymn from children in Yardley Court and Derwent Lodge.
We finished with a harvest prayer and the pupils marvelled at the generous amount of food and other items that our community donated to the food bank in Paddock Wood. Thank you for all the donations which have been gratefully received.
“You have really helped to stock up our shelves ready for a busy autumn and winter ahead. This is the time of year when we depend upon so many churches, schools and businesses to respond to the needs that are becoming more prevalent. Your donations weighed in at 953 kg. This exceeded last year’s amount and set a new record for a single donation amount. With a bit more harvest donations expected, particularly from one other school in a few weeks, we will be hoping to exceed last year’s total harvest donations. You, all, at Somerhill have played a large part in that.
Please pass our thanks onto everyone who kindly participated in giving – pupils, staff, parents and any others, so that The Community Storehouse can continue giving out to those in our local communities when a little bit of extra help is needed.”
