Parents' Association

Parents’ Association

The Somerhill Schools’ Parents Association (SSPA) is a very active organisation and membership is open to all parents and/or guardians of the pupils attending any of the schools. The PA plays an important role in enhancing community spirit and furthering links between parents in all three schools.  The PA also runs a monthly Classified publication, where parents can advertise their business, private ads or even run a wanted ad. All for FREE.
The events organised throughout the year are great fun for both the parents and children, and help generate extra funds for the schools, which are put towards ‘special projects’. The funds raised in the last school year 2010/2011 were £23,286 and this money funded the memory garden and pond work, musical instruments, new staging and playground equipment.
The PA also donated nearly £9,000 to various charities. These included £5,300 for the Demelza Hospice Care for children, which provides respite care, short breaks, symptom control and end of life care for children and young people with life limited and life threatening conditions. Other local charities we helped included Action for Children, Kusasa, Cancer Research, Downs Syndrome Association and Mencap.
The events organised throughout the year are great fun for both the parents and children, and the Summer and Christmas Fairs especially help to generate extra funds for the schools, which are put towards ‘special projects’

None of this would be possible without the help and support of you, the parents.

For more information on SSPA, current parents can log into the Parents’ Area on the Schools website, and click on Parents’ Association.
