Music weaves its way through every year and every pupil's life here at Somerhill. From our Pre-Schoolers keeping the beat to Scholars reaching new heights across a host of instruments. We simply love music and feel privileged to share it in our soirees, concerts and competitions.
Senior and Junior spring concerts gave our boys and girls an opportunity to show their skills, make us smile and leave us all singing and toe-tapping for days afterwards!
The Junior concert on Friday 27th February saw over two hundred pupils from Year Two, Three and Four singing Jonah Man Jazz in harmony - the finale to a concert with brass, string and flute groups, individual school choirs and some impressive ukuleles! An amazing array of musicality from our six to nine year olds.
They passed the baton to the Seniors and on Friday 3rd March Years Five to Eight raised the roof with a huge combined choir singing a brilliant arrangement of "Thank You for the Music", bringing a concert full of Abba, the Blues Brothers and a technically tip top orchestral Mission Impossible to a close. Pure joy and terrific volume from nearly 250 ten to thirteen year old boys and girls. What a range of voices! With a nod to Benny and Bjorn, we really are so grateful and proud.
Onwards to our Derwent Lodge and Yardley Court House Music Competitions. A medley of Queen songs to propel us through to the Easter holidays! Good Luck to all of our musicians in their Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music exams next week.
