Thomas Trophy 2016
2nd October 2016

Another year and another Thomas Trophy! The sun was shining which meant no mud and fast under foot.

The Yardley Court U9 team started the afternoon with a brilliant performance. All eight of our boys in the top 33 in a field of well over 100. Tristan was 2nd just a second behind first and closing fast! Harry C also impressed in 8th as did James (10th). The U9 boys scored 64 points and were crowned champions ahead of Hilden Grange.

Our U11s were always going to have a tough contest against a very strong Hilden Grange side but did not let us down. The boys hunted in packs of pink and all came home in the top 32 out of another very large field of runners. Fraser finished 5th, Finn 6th and Angus 10th. Overall 75 points was good enough to retain the U11 title.

The senior boys were supremely confident going into this race having dominated the Hazelwood relays. They set a super example to the younger boys and were the standout performers of the day after a very long wait for their race. Fin made first place look easy, Ollie was superb in 2nd. Freddie (Year 7) finished 8th and continues his excellent season. Ethan ended a super afternoon, coming in 9th. 49 points and a clean sweep of trophies. Fantastic!

Meanwhile, our Derwent Lodge U9 and U11 teams secured 69 and 60 points respectively, bringing home the U9 and U11 shields once again. In the U9 team, Niamh finished 3rd with Harriet 4th. Sophie and Lily came in 2nd and 3rd for the U11s with Eva 8th. Strong, consistent running girls. Well done!
