  • Mr Peter Braggins - Yardley Court

    Educated at Christ’s College Cambridge.  Head Teacher Skinners’ School, Tunbridge Wells 1992 -2005.  Previously Head of History and Assistant House Master, Bedford School.  Member of the Secondary Transformation Team and School Improvement Partner for KCC. Chairman, Management Committee, Study Support Centre for West Kent Learning Federation.  Coach to debating teams, Citizen Foundation’s Magistrates’Court Competition teams, school football and water polo teams.  Umpire junior cricket for over twenty years.  Magistrate, North Kent Branch.


  • Mr Peter Brooks - Education Committee

    Former Headmaster at Kingswood House School in Epsom.  He qualified as a teacher and joined KHS in 1975 becoming Headmaster in 1997. Peter has always promoted a view of education which not only places children at the heart of their teaching and learning but also recognises the importance of children enjoying their childhood and their education, with success based on the individual rather than against common standards.  He also is a huge advocate of global education and has supported various initiatives in Sierra Leone, visiting as recently as 2014. Peter is an avid sports fan, particularly rugby. He has a wife (also a Headteacher) and three children (one of whom is a teacher), plus two grandchildren.

  • Mr Joe Davies

    Master of Haileybury. Former Headmaster of Sutton Valence School. Educated at Christ College, Brecon and St. John’s College, Cambridge.  Former housemaster at Tonbridge School and Deputy at St. John’s School, Leatherhead.  Married with four children.


  • Mr Jeremy Hills - Finance and General Purposes Commitee

    Married, one son (Yardley Court/Tonbridge School) one daughter (Hilden Oaks/Kent College) Educated at St Edward’s, Oxford. Chartered Accountant with career mostly in Insurance, Broking, Re-insurance and Life Assurance. Lived in Tonbridge since 1977. Currently Treasurer of Tonbridge Civic Society and Accountant to The Abbeyfield Tonbridge Society Ltd. 

  • Mrs. Diane M. Huntingford - Chair of the Governors, Finance and General Purposes Committee

    Prior to working in education, worked in hospital administration in London, The British High Commission in New Delhi and The American Embassy in Jakarta. Formerly a Parish Councillor, Vice-Chairman Board of Governors of Yalding Primary School and member of Board of Governors of South Borough School for Girls (Maidstone).  One son educated at Yardley Court and Sevenoaks School and one daughter educated at Hilden Oaks and Sevenoaks School. Lives locally and was formerly the Bursar of The Schools at Somerhill. Currently Chairman of Tonbridge Civic Society.

  • Mr Mark Jiskoot

    Educated at Tonbridge School and Imperial College, London; Engineering. Married with two children (boy/girl who passed through SPP, Yardley/Derwent). Held roles in development before moving to Houston to establish a company from grass roots. International expert (consultant) on loss control, published and presented numerous papers at variety of international conferences. UK representative to the ISO standards committee in field of crude oil sampling. Managing Director of a niche, systems design engineering company, based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent and Houston Tx. 100+ employees (£28m revenue). Kent exporter of the year, ISO 9001 accredited and an Investor in People, also supported Young Enterprise.  Pension Fund trustee, CBI - Member of regional council and National Executive. Executed MBO of Jiskoot Ltd and several years later sale to Cameron Inc., a Fortune 500 company.   Recently accepted a corporate role as Senior Principal Research Engineer as liaison between universities and research organisations and Cameron for experimental and applied research.


  • Mrs Katharine Lewis - Education Committee, SPP

    Married with one daughter (Derwent Lodge, Tonbridge GS and Eastbourne College) and twin sons (Somerhill Pre-Prep, Yardley Court and Tonbridge School). Family resident in the area for many generations; educated at Tonbridge Grammar School for Girls and King’s College, University of London with a History degree. Joined the Bank of England in 1987 undertaking a variety of analytical, managerial and advisory roles to the present date. Former Governor of Tonbridge Grammar School serving on the Curriculum and Strategy sub-committees and also a member of TGS Gift for Learning Development Campaign. Former Governor of Shipbourne Primary School. Currently an Ambassador for Tonbridge School Development Campaign.

  • Mr Michael Norrie - Finance and General Purposes Committee (Chairman)

    Married with a son (Yardley Court and Tonbridge School) and two daughters.  Chartered Accountant and director of Corporate Finance company specialising in mergers and acquisitions. Former Governor (Chairman 2002-2006) of Tonbridge Grammar School.  Vice President Tonbridge Juddians RFC.

  • Miss Helen Tebay - Child Protection, Education Committee

    Always resident in the area, educated at Walthamstow Hall Junior School, Tonbridge Grammar School for Girls and St. Catharine’s College, Cambridge with a Mathematics degree and PGCE. Taught Mathematics at Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School for six years; Assistant Head of Lower School for the last two years. Currently teaching at Sevenoaks School. Lower School tutor for five years, Divisional Head of Middle School for five years and Divisional Head of Sixth Form for five years. Pastoral Deputy Head since September 2012. Fully involved in co-curricular activities including Sports, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, and the Combined Cadet Force.  

  • Mr Philip Thomas - Finance and General Purposes Committee

    Educated at St. Dunstan’s College. Qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1966.  Joined Creaseys in l971 and became partner in 1974 and senior partner in 1990. Retired from Creaseys in 2008.  Invited by Michael Bickmore to be a Trustee of Somerhill Charitable Trust in 1993 on its formation and then appointed as Chairman in 1995.  Also a trustee of TACT – a fostering and adoption agency. Chairman of a local property investment company.  Married with four children (three girls and a boy). Son educated at Yardley Court and Tonbridge.

  • Mr Robert Verrell - Finance and General Purposes Committee

    Married with 3 grown up children (2 sons attended Somerhill Pre-prep, Yardley and Tonbridge and 1 daughter attended Somerhill Pre-prep, Derwent Lodge and TOGS). A Chartered Surveyor, holding a BSc Honours Degree in Estate Management; qualified as a Fellow in 1988. A founding partner of Broadlands Chartered Surveyors of Tunbridge Wells, mainly dealing with commercial redevelopment schemes and town planning issues. RICS panel judge for the south east region of the national RICS Awards. 

    Leisure pursuits include sailing (skippers certificate), cycling and walking.

  • Mr David Walsh

    Educated at Marlborough College and Brasenose College, Oxford. Taught at Tonbridge School from 1972-2009 as a history teacher, boarding housemaster and Second Master. Currently Chairman of the Old Tonbridgian Society. Also trustee of MCC Foundation and formerly an elected member of the MCC Committee. Published author of two books – A Duty to Serve:Tonbridge School and the 1939-45 War and Public Schools and the Great War:The Generation Lost. Married with three children and four grandchildren. 

  • Mr Charles Warner - Education Committee, Public Benefit

    Educated at Yardley Court, Marlborough College and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. Solicitor and Notary Public working at Warners Solicitors in Tonbridge since 1977. Former Governor of Tonbridge Grammar School (1996–2003) and former Director of West Ham United Football Club (1988-2006). Trustee of Tonbridge United Charity. Married with three children (two sons educated at Yardley Court).



  • Mr David Wells - Finance and General Purposes Committee, Bursary

    Educated at Homefield Preparatory School, Sutton, Eastbourne College, and Britannia Royal Naval College.

    Royal Navy Officer, specialising in underwater warfare as an Observer in the Fleet Air Arm and on exchange with the Royal Air Force, and then as Principal Warfare Officer and Operations Officer in frigates and aircraft carriers. Subsequently, served for nine years as Bursar and School Business Manager at Tonbridge Grammar School, and then in a similar role at Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys for the three years prior to recent retirement.

    Interests include cricket, golf, Italian culture (having lived in Italy for three years), and painting.

    Married for 34 years to Carol, with daughter Lucy (employed at Saatchi & Saatchi), and son Alexander (currently serving as a Royal Marine Commando).
