Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHEE) deals with real life issues that affect children and young people; their families and their communities.

Lessons at Yardley Court encompass all areas and are designed to promote the boys’ personal, social and health development. PSHEE provides them with the knowledge, skills and understanding that they need to stay healthy and safe, develop worthwhile relationships, respect differences, develop independence and responsibility, and make the most of their own abilities and those of others. This subject is taught throughout the school from Year 3 until Year 8.

Lessons explore, discuss and debate many aspects of this subject area including mindfulness, health, relationships, growing up, dealing with risk, study skills, citizenship, current affairs and personal finance issues. The PSHEE programme at Yardley Court is also intended to further enhance the strong pastoral care provided at the school. Our aim is for PSHEE education to equip children with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive, fulfilled and responsible lives.  The boys are encouraged to use their initiative and make careful, informed choices. PSHEE also enables our pupils to reflect on and clarify their own values and attitudes, and explore the complex and sometimes conflicting messages they receive in the media and world around them. As the boys grow older it enables them to explore political and social issues critically, to weigh evidence, debate and make reasoned arguments.
