Science is all about investigation and discovery. Our approach is practical and girls begin to design their own investigations from Year Three. This hands-on approach is sure to light the flame of curiosity, and develop our girls’ interest in the world around them.
Science is taught in newly refurbished, well-resourced laboratories by specialist teachers. The extensive grounds support learning in science throughout the year; from the study of fungi or seed dispersal in autumn to minibeast hunting and a pond ecology project in the summer.
We have a Themed Week every year, where we often investigate areas of science which are not included in the curriculum – we have even extracted DNA from plants and made rockets! During National Science Week, girls have the opportunity to enjoy visits to other schools for lectures and demonstrations, and enter numerous competitions during their time here.
