The Schools at Somerhill are a family of schools, with a thriving, friendly community of pupils, parents and staff. We currently have 600 pupils on the school roll.
Yardley Court first came to Somerhill 25 years ago, repairing and restoring the sadly neglected mansion and grounds to allow this very popular school to expand. Yardley Court had been founded in 1898 in Tonbridge.
Derwent Lodge followed three years later, as they needed more space than their Tunbridge Wells town centre home could provide.
Younger pupils attended the Pre-Prep (originally called ‘Bickies’ after the Bickmore family, who founded Yardley Court).
In 2002, The Bickmore Hall was completed. This purpose built sports hall provides a well-equipped hub for the very large range of sporting activities and fixtures across our schools.
In 2008, a stunning 25m, 4 lane swimming pool and spacious dining hall were completed within the walled garden.
In 2013 a large tree house complex was built on the edge of the woodland to complement the many outdoor play areas around our schools.
In 2014, a state-of-the-art music building was constructed, providing dedicated music teaching rooms and a large performance area.
The Schools at Somerhill are members of the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS)
